History:  This sculpture is Luckow-Nielsens original model for the large bronze sculpture standing next to Copenhagen Town Hall by Rådhuspladsen on H. C. Andersens Boulevard.

The bronze sculpture was placed by Copenhagen Town Hall in 1961 but the history of the sculpture starts i 1930’s where E. Utzon-Frank made the first sketches for a portrait of Hans Christian Andersen. However when Utzon-Frank died in 1955 the sculpture had not yet been made. The assignment was then passes on to Henry Luckow-Nielsen and completed in 1961.
